To move through this document, 'pan' the page by stroking your pen over the screen in any direction, like moving paper around with your hand. To zoom in and enlarge the view, tap the middle of the screen, let go and then quickly touch and hold your pen on the screen again and stroke it up or down.

You can also pan the page using the directional button on the front, or zoom in and out using the buttons on the left side.

Picsel Viewer handles many document types including PDF, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, JPEG images, PNG images, HTML, plain text and others. However, some files may appear slightly differently from your computer. Please refer to the manual provided for details.

There is a menu of options for Picsel Viewer, available by tapping in the bottom left corner of the screen. This allows you to open new documents, adjust the screen, configure the settings for Picsel Viewer and exit from the application.

Views

There are four main "views" in Picsel Viewer which allow you to choose documents to view. These are all available from the main menu.

Document View: At the heart of Picsel Viewer is the Document View. This is where you can see documents. You can pan (scroll) and zoom to read whichever part of the document you like. You can also move between the pages of longer documents by stroking your pen along the bottom of the screen, as if you were turning the pages of a book. You can also rotate the document view to suit your reading style.
Folder View: The Folder View allows you to explore documents stored on your device or memory cards, as you would on a desktop computer. You can look inside folders for more documents, or can re-organise the ordering and appearance of the lists using special options on the menu. Simply select one of the documents to see it in the Document View. If the list is too long to fit on screen, you can pan up and down in the normal way.
History View: The History View records all of the documents you have looked at in the last few days. You can use this to remember where you've been or to return to the pages without finding the individual files again. As with the other views, you can move up and down through long lists in the normal way. You can adjust the time the history is recorded for, or delete everything from it, using the preferences described below.
Bookmark View: The Bookmark View allows you to keep a note of your favourite documents so that you can return to them easily. You can add a document to this list using the menu option in the Document View, and can remove them using the option in the Bookmark View. There are also special options on the menu to sort the bookmarked documents into a convenient order.

Special Features

Picsel Viewer has some unique features to make your experience more satisfying. You can rotate the screen to make it easier to read documents at the size you prefer.

You can pan (scroll) around the current page by stroking your pen over the screen like moving a sheet of paper; you can move to the next or previous page of the document by drawing a stroke horizontally across the bottom of the screen, like turning the page of a book. You can also zoom in or out to any size by tapping the screen then immediately touching it again in the same place and stroking your pen up or down.

Most documents are shown as if on a sheet of normal paper, but to make reading easier on a small screen, you can make them fit in a single column in the document view with the special "reflow" mode. You can select or leave reflow mode by selecting the Reflow menu option. While in this mode, all of the information will be made to fit in the width of the page, and the page will become taller, but you will still be able to zoom in to study pictures or very small items.

Preferences

There are a number of options in Picsel Viewer which are available for you to adjust according to your preferences, from the main menu. While most of them are a matter of choice, such as the number of days after which items are removed from the history list, some affect proper operation of the application.

Picsel Viewer is an international application, and can read documents in many languages. Each different region of the world has a range of "character encodings" used to store text but these are not always clearly identified in the documents. You should set the preference for the default which will be used on ambiguous documents to the one used most commonly in your language. If the wrong one is used, text will appear as a jumble of meaningless symbols.
