Dear, Motorola customer:
Thank you for contacting Motorola e-mail support, we appreciate your request.
Thank you very much for your considerations and interest in our products. Sorry for the delay.
Regarding your concern, we apologize for the inconvenient.
We do not support or endorse any third party fax software at the moment but we have tested this successfully with Winfax Pro 10
Activating Fax services from the Network
Before you can use your phone to send and receive faxes you will need to contact your network(Orange, Vodafone, O2 etc…), in order to activate the Fax service on your line. You will receive anadditional number, which will be your fax number and the network will update your sim card within 24hours. Any attempt to use fax services should be made once this process is complete.
Installing the phone as a modem
In order to be able to send and receive faxes you will need first to install the phone as a modem on aPC. The drivers for this purpose are included in MPT and if you have already connected your phone to the PC and used MPT you will not need to follow any additional steps. To install the phone manually asa modem on Windows 2000/XP, connect it to the PC and the “Found new hardware” wizard will start.
Select to install the driver from a specific location and specify “C:\Program Files\mobilePhoneTools\Inf\W2K_XP_USB_Drivers” as the location if MPT is installed, or insert the CD in the CDROMdrive and specify:
“D:\ Addons\Inf\W2K_XP_USB_Drivers”- where D:\ is the CD-ROM drive letter. Go to My Computer to verify the drive letter if unsure.
After installation you willsee a Motorola USB Modem under your modem list. To determine if it is working properly, follow theQuery modem procedure, included in this issue.
Choosing Fax software
In order to send and receive faxes, you will need software that will allow you to use any dial up modem on your system for this purpose. We do not recommend any third party software but since most of our customers use Win fax, this guide is based on using Symantec Win fax Pro 10. To use other software, make sure that the services offered are similar to that of Win fax.
Installation and Setup
After making sure that the Modem is installed, install the Fax software. After installation is complete, Winfax will start a wizard to configure the modem. First, enter a name, your Fax number and your phone number. You may receive some extra information about your modem, You can choose if you want the software to run automatically, You can also choose to send faxes using your e-mail Client, Setup is now finished, you can now connect to send and receive messages, This is the main Winfax window. From here you can change settings, modems, send and receive faxes.
To send a fax, click on “Send”
There are 2 ways to receive faxes. Either automatically, if you receive it while the phone isconnected, or manually, by connecting to your fax Answerphone. If you receive a fax call and thephone is connected to the PC, Winfax will automatically pick the call and retrieve the fax. To connectmanually, select Receive from the main program window, and then “Remote Fax Retrieval”. - Somefunctionality will depend on the service offered by the network.
We hope that you find this information useful and we remain at your entire disposal for future questions you may wish to ask.

Dear Tech support.
I do use my Z6 as a external modem which connected over USB cable.
I'm capable to dial out and establish connection to ISP(internet
service provider) via Z6 as an analog modem.
I'm capable to establish connection to ISP via Z6 as a GPRS modem.
I'm NOT capable to send or receive faxes,
and to send a fax is more important then to receive.
Z6 just hang the line as soon as the other end picking up the line.
I checked with T-Mobile tech support - they do not have a restriction
on use a cell phone to send or receive faxes..
What is an initialization string (AT commands) should i feed to the Z6
to send a fax?

Dear Motorola Customer,
Thank you for contacting Motorola e-mail support, we appreciate your request.
Thank you very much for your considerations and interest in our products.
Regarding your concern, we apologize for any inconvenience you might have experienced with your product.
Motorola phones cannot be connected to fax machines to send/receive faxes. What you can do with a Motorola phone is to connect it to the computer, and use it as an external modem to send/receive the faxes. This would be in case you don't have an internal modem in your computer and you want to send/receive faxes with the computer itself.
If you want to use the phone as a modem on the computer for faxing purposes, please check the following requirements:
1) You will need to activate a special service that allows your phone to be used as a modem to dial out. This would be with your Service Provider.
- Bluetooth:
No drivers are needed. You need to connect/pair the phone to the computer and use the phone's Dial Up Network Gateway Profile.
2) You will need an additional third party software that allows you to send/receive faxes on your computer.
Once again we apologize. We hope this information fulfills your needs.
We hope that you find this information useful and we remain at your entire disposal for future questions you may wish to ask.

How to send a fax?
I have Motorola Z6
Version: R60_G_80.33.05R
Phone settings "Fax ready: Yes"
Connection: USB cable
I'm able to use this phone as a modem, to dial out, connect to ISP and transfer data (not GPRS).
However, I'm not able to use this phone as a fax. It does dial out, but as soon as other end picking up a call, my phone just hangup.
What can be done about it, so I will be able to send/receive faxes?
perhaps an example of the InitString?
Звонил в T-mobile - они говорят никаких ограничений на отправку/прием факса у них нет на текущий номер.
