Unfortunately I didn't even know that this forum was still online back then or that it would be that difficult .

I tried several Unlocking services but they can't seem to find the IMEI in the unlocking database. Only 1 service is still looking for possible codes. If that fails, I will just sell it and buy a new one.

You can buy a used phone in poor condition (with broken flex cable or a broken screen) and swap the main boards.

Do they have a custom firmware? Like custom themes etc.? If yes, which one is more popular?


Btw, I found a LE Razr2 V8 at a really good price, however the seller doesn't reply to my question about making a better photo of the phone. What a pity! I really hate those people! :/

Yes, both V8 and V3 series have custom firmware.

But V3 has a lot of modifications that are hidden behind one design. It can be:

V3 Classic Line: V3, V3r, V3re
V3i Line: V3i, V3e, V3ie
V3xx 3G Line: V3xx, V3xx AT&T (no front camera), M702iS
MS500 Line: MS500, MS500W

The V3re, V3ie are poorly customized.
The easiest way to find out which modification of the V3 series you have is by the firmware version.

По мне нельзя сравнивать дизайн v3 и v8. Да у v3 просто гигансткая слава и в свое время он был чуть ли не эталон. Но v8 я бы сказал просто другая лига, он просто в разы круче смотрится. Мне кажется v8 просто вышел в неудачное для моторолы время и прошел мимо публики и многие о нем даже не знают.
В свое время я хотел купить v3, до этого я уже не раз прошивал знакомым v3, но так чтоб свой иметь небыло, так вот я почти купил v3, но чудом попалась фотка v8, он нетак давно вышел, я стал искать и просто открыл новый мир для себя. В итоге продал свой сенсорный qtech и не думаю взял v8. Это к слову был мой первый магикс, вопреки тому, как многие начинали с z6, который мне в сравнении v8 казался старомодным уже, да оно так и было, по сути z6 это z3 чуть доработаный в плане дизайна. А v8 это просто уникальный в своем роде дизайн.

Брат-близнец V9 по дизайну тоже был очень крутым. У него ещё и 3G HSDPA в преимуществах, но увы не такая интересная OS, там P2K. Зато работает ну очень быстро.

Кстати у меня где-то валяется CDMA-версия V9m, мне понравилось как там сделан динамик. Очень громкий и качественный, несмотря на толщину корпуса.

Интересно в V8 такой же или нет.

I really liked the LE one though!

According to the MotoFan.Ru discussions these stock firmware are unlocked and safe to flashing.

1. General V8 512MB: R601_G_80.46.1BR_LP0039B_GCQLIDOTMCOREE.
2. General V8 2GB: R601_G_80.56.1BR_LP0039B_GSQLIDO2GBTMDE.
3. LE V8 2GB: R601_G_80.56.15R_LP0003C_GSQLIDO2GBLUXA.

but if you want you can install custom firmware, right but it's better not to do this, the operation of changing bootloader to NoRSA version is quite risky

you first need to update your bootloader to A3.CF then flash A3.CF NoRSA bootloader and then flash any custom firmware

Ну с позиции дизайна V8 и V9 один телефон. Разница только в толщине, ну и там чуть др технологические отверстия под платой. А половинка с экраном так вообще однин в один.
Я в свое время даже переставлял плату v8 в v9, чтобы получить больший АКБ.
По звуку на сколько я помню v8 тихий был, v9 лучше и наверное это с большим обьемом для динамика связано, опять таки из-за копрпуса потолще.



Как вариант мог бы свой мод SAmod предложить. как минимум я могу отвечать на вопросы касаемо мода из остальных авторов уже никто не выходит на связь.

I am back with a finally found V8 Luxury Edition in good condition.

However I noticed that the software is quite buggy and I want to update it.

As far as I know, the Luxury Edition was only available for retail market, right? Therefore there must be a safe and unlocked firmware for the phone right?

It's impossible to say for sure for some unknown firmware, unfortunately. SBF-Recalc has a SIM-Lock removal feature for any firmware but this will require some "not-so-obvious" manipulations.

There is a firmware for RAZR V8 2GB Luxury Edition that was flashed by forum users and it should be 100% without SIM-Lock, discussion here: Нужна прошивка к V8 с золотыми аналоговыми часами

I would do the following in your situation:

1. Сharge battery to 100%.
2. Switch to bootloader mode by pressing *, #, Red buttons together when phone is powered off.
3. Flash it from A3.CD to A3.CF bootloader using RSD Lite 3.8
4. Flash it to R601_G_80.56.15R_GSQLIDO2GBLUXAPMY084 firmware using RSD Lite 3.8

R601_G_80.56.15R is newer than R601_8.54.5DR_A many bugs can be fixed there.

I discovered that SBF Recalc has the ability to verify if a flash firmware has a sim-lock.

Also the link to the firmware under "Tools & Files" gives an 404 error.

Unfortunately there is no official change logs but I think that there were only various bugfixes.

support for other languages can be installed using another lang packs e.g LP002EE: (British English, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian)
